Richard Smith Joins the Blue Foundry Bank Team as VP Security and Fraud Officer

Blue Foundry Bank’s fraud department begins its next chapter with new hire, Richard Smith. Taking on the role of VP Security and Fraud Officer, Smith will employ his 25 years of industry experience to ensure the protection of Blue Foundry Bank employees, customers, buildings, and assets. He will be responsible for creating a foundation for best practices in fraud management, including managing alerts, creating investigation protocols, assessing fraud risk, and ensuring timely and thorough education and training, in order to to reduce or eliminate loss for the organization and it’s customers.

“I am ready to apply decades of fraud management experience and knowledge to create programs that support Blue Foundry Bank and provide best-in-class fraud defenses,” said Richard Smith. “These new programs, will assist the bank and our customers with loss recovery, more sophisticated investigation techniques, bank regulatory compliance, and customer education and remediation.”

Smith joins the Blue Foundry team following positions at TD Ameritrade, E-Trade Financial and, most recently, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management where he served as the VP of Fraud Operations for ten years. “Richard’s extensive industry experience along with his unyielding drive to ensure safety and security is what makes him an esteemed colleague and a valuable addition to the team,” said Elizabeth Miller, EVP/Chief Retail Banking Officer. “His contributions will be essential in our efforts to advance Blue Foundry Bank’s fraud prevention practices and capabilities.”

Beyond the time he will spend growing the bank’s fraud department with leading edge technologies and inititiaves, Smith enjoys working out, golfing, vacationing, and spending time with his wife and three daughters.
