Summary: Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for managing a component of a multi-faceted accounting department ensuring that the Bank’s accounting and financial reporting are accurate and timely and that internal controls are maintained. The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the SEC reporting function, assisting in maintaining the accurate management of the Bank’s general ledger, GAAP, assisting in monthly/quarterly/year-end closings, and financial and regulatory reporting. The Assistant Controller supervises staff as needed and serves as a primary backup to their responsibilities.
Minimum/Essential Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA or Masters in Accounting preferred)
Professional accounting designation (CPA)
7+ years’ experience in accounting or finance field, preferably from a Big 4 accounting firm; banking industry with SEC experience is a plus
3+ years’ experience in SEC reporting, either as an external reviewer or preparer
2+ years’ experience managing at least 2 people
Fluency with Prologue and Workiva or willingness to scale quickly
Excellent knowledge of financial institutions policies and procedures
Command of Bank GAAP and regulatory accounting principles including preparation and review of financial statements and call reports
Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and various other PC based software programs
Exceptional communication, organizational, inter-personal and time-management skills
Strong experience liaising with various internal and external stakeholders, with and without direct management oversight
Results-oriented strategic thinker
